The Nebula

Precious is this gift of sight
Which draws the heavens near tonight,
    Challenging our point of view
Till every thought relates to you.

For now that we behold your grace
Through lenses turned to distant space,
Beyond our own bright earth and sun -
A sense of awe in where we've come.

And gazing with our earthly eyes,
We reach for where the meaning lies,
In space, in time, within ourselves,
    Wherever endless beauty dwells.

Within the arms of nature born,
A splendid work of light and form,
Sweet coloured breath of cosmic change,
The star of my perceptual range.
